  17.      Welcome to BACK SOON! Version 2.0, the message-taking utility for
  18.   the busy home or office.  Here is the latest news and other important
  19.   information regarding the program.

  22.      USING BACK SOON! ON A NOVELL NETWORK
  23.      
  24.      Back Soon! will run on a Novell Network.  To prevent broadcast
  25.   messages from the network server from interfering with Back Soon!,
  26.   temporarily disable them by typing CASTOFF ALL from the command line
  27.   before running Back Soon!  To re-enable the messages, use the command
  28.   CASTON after exiting Back Soon!

  31.      USING BACK SOON! WITH OTHER PROGRAMS

  33.      If you use WordPerfect 5.1, Quattro Pro 3.0 to 5.0, or WordStar 7.0, 
  34.   macros are provided on the program disk for automatically running Back 
  35.   Soon! from within these programs.

  37.      Back Soon! is simple to use from within almost any program, with
  38.   or without a predefined macro.  Simply choose your applications "Shell
  39.   to DOS" command (this may be called something like "Run a DOS command"
  40.   or "Go to DOS") and specify Back Soon! as the command to be executed.
  41.   If your application sends you to the DOS command line, start Back Soon!
  42.   as you normally would, then type EXIT at the command line when you have
  43.   finished using Back Soon!  You'll be returned directly to your application.

  53.  Version 2.0 adds three major enhancements -

  55.  - Graphics.  In addition to scrolling a message and playing simple
  56.    melodies, Back Soon! can now display virtually ANY type of graphics
  57.    or animation.  See the file APPENDIX.TXT for details.  The shareware
  58.    version includes two sample animation sequences produced with AutoDesk
  59.    Animator; the registered version includes additional animation.  Add-
  60.    on graphic images (scenery, celebrities, etc.), animation, and even
  61.    customized scans of your own photos are available from Tay-Jee Software.

  64.  - Event Scehduler.  Back Soon! can now perform unattended tasks such as
  65.    tape backups, Email transfers, etc., while you are away through the
  66.    Event Scheduler.  See the file APPENDIX.TXT for additional instructions.

  68.  - Multilingual Support.  Back Soon!'s text message system has been 
  69.    adapted for multilingual use.  Currently, Spanish and German are
  70.    supported; additional languages are palnned for future release.

  77.  Version 1.5 adds two major enhancements -

  79.   - Music.  In addition to scrolling a message, Back Soon! v1.5 now
  80.     has the ability to play simple musical selections.  To activate
  81.     the music feature, add the switch "/u" to the command line at
  82.     startup.  The music files (extension .CM1) included on the
  83.     archive should be located in the Back Soon! directory.  When
  84.     the music feature is activated, Back Soon! will alternate scrolling
  85.     your message down the screen and playing, at random, one of the
  86.     musical selections included, until a key is pressed.

  88.   - User Menu.  After entering your message retrieval code, you now
  89.     have numerous options instead of simply reading your messages and
  90.     exiting the program.  You can simply check your messages and leave
  91.     Back Soon! running, temporarily go to DOS, change the scrolling
  92.     screen message, or toggle music on and off as well.

  94.  Version 1.1 adds two minor features -

  111. IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE RUNNING BACK SOON! AND ARE USING DOS 5.00:

  114. The MIRROR program, when loaded as a TSR, conflicts with Back Soon!
  115. Most often this manifests itself as a loud continuous tone when trying
  116. to enter a message, after which the Back Soon! locks up.
  117.  
  118. A solution to this problem is to unload MIRROR just prior to starting
  119. Back Soon!  Use the command
  120.  
  121.      MIRROR /U
  122.  
  123. You must make sure that MIRROR is the last TSR to be loaded, and be sure
  124. to re-load MIRROR after exiting Back Soon!
